Slow News Week
by Tommy
Well, maybe not a week but it’s certainly been a slow couple of days. I finished All The President’s Men by Woodward and Bernstein, a good and worthwhile read overall, though with a few flaws that stop it receiving more than a 6 or 7 out of 10 in my ranking.
Recovery has been going well, albeit slowly. I got out of hospital on the 2nd and am not due back until about the 19th, tomorrow week. They don’t want to stress the knee or hip –the surgical sites– too much so I’m just resting, no physio or whatnot. I am on a machine they call the Continuous Passive Motion machine. It bends the knee (something I’m not supposed to do myself) for me and keeps movement going. It’s measure in degrees and I passed 60 mark.
I’ve begun doing schoolwork as well, to keep up with what they’re up to back home. The Minneapolis skyline forms the back wall of my ‘classroom’, certainly a world apart from Limerick!
So that’s all my news – I’ve been learning the Dvorak keyboard layout and slowly been getting my speed back to the 50 words-per-minute range that I enjoyed with QWERTY.
