I’m not much of a TV fan –our television is constantly on the blink and only shows and a handful of channels at the best of times- so most of my TV watching is done online.

House M.D. is your average medical drama with a difference – the lead in this show is a lonely, misanthropic ass, more interested in the medical puzzles than saving patients. Screwing up every friendship (save for one other doctor, the Dr. Watson to his Sherlock Holmes), House M.D. mixes real medicine with witty exchanges to make for exciting episodes. The only downside is that being from America, it takes all sorts of silly breaks. Christmas and mid-term are ok, but we’re just coming to an end of another break over the past 3 or so weeks. Aires on Monday nights which means I can catch it online on Tuesday mornings. I think that we’re (the TV-watching public) attracted to nasty-but-witty characters – House, Black Books, Blackadder, Curb Your Enthusiasm and (to a slightly lesser extend) Fawlty Towers.

Doctor Who is literally worlds away (pardon the pun) from House. I’m not a fan of sci-fi/fantasy books or films (case in point – I despised Eragon), but for some reason I really enjoy Doctor Who. I think that there are other appealing parts of the show. Having said that, they do the alien stuff in a much more lighthearted manner than usual, maybe that’s the appeal. It aires every Saturday evenings on BBC 1, which allows me to catch it on Sundays. Full review here.
