Do I want an iPad?
by Tommy
I’ve been wondering this since Apple’s new product was released back in the last week of January – albeit in a purely hypothetical sense. At present (and for the foreseeable future), funds are too low to afford such a device.
The iPad, according to Steve Jobs and echoed by many App Developers, will replace laptops, or at very least bridge the gap between laptops and smart-phones. It serves the same purpose, I think, as the Mac Mini and the iPod Shuffle – bringing Apple products to the lower end of the market.
I’m in no doubt that I could happy live with an iPad and not a laptop – and I’m a highly intensive computer user. It’s all about what you intend using it for.
As you can see, Patrick appears to disagree with me. :)
The thing is though, people said the exact same thing about the iPhone, and we don’t hear many problems from that neck of the woods these days because people have realized what a phenomenal device it is.
If I did have sufficient silver in my iPad coffers, I still probably wouldn’t buy one unless it was to replace my laptop/iPhone – both of which are *touches wood* still intact and working in ship shape order.
See what I did there? I used nautical jargon to make the patient feel more comfortable… /HouseMDquote
