I sent out a tweet earlier:
OK, it’s official. I have never been happier in my entire life than I’ve been this week.
It’s true. I don’t know why. It’s one of those unexplainable things. Maybe it was realizing days are only as bad as your perception makes them, maybe it was realizing that there are no real needs, only wants*, maybe it was realizing that if I play to my strengths, I can achieve anything or maybe it was knowing that each day I woke up there were people in the world who were happy because I existed. It could have been any or all these things.

Days are only as bad as your perception makes them
People underestimate this. If you wake up tomorrow morning, staring at the ceiling, and think “This day is gonna be crap”, then chances are, even if the day has nothing bad in store for you, you’re still gonna be miserable.
Compare it with waking up and thinking: “This day is gonna rock!”. You’re going to enjoy the day, even if it’s only average.
I don’t usually spent a whole lot of time actually researching the topics I post about, but I spent a few minutes thinking how best to express this point:
When you wake up each morning, there are two pairs of “glasses” on your bedside locker. You can put on either one. The first is the “positive” pair and the second is the “negative” pair. The positive pair allow you to see things in a bright, cheery fashion and you go through the day with a smile on your face. The negative pair put an aura of unpleasantness about you. You go through that day with a bleak outlook on everything.
Well, which pair will you put on tomorrow morning?

I’m a very proud Mum of this happy son.
:-)
I really like this post Tommy. I’m writing about the same thing at the moment, and you’re right, you can choose which glasses you put on. Great way of putting it!
I’m wearing my happy pair too :)
Good good! But hope I didn’t steal your ideas too much!

Great post Tommy, nice to see someone being cheery for a change!
I agree completely, people can choose to be in a good or bad mood about things. And the good mood is better for everyone!
Yep! I for one only possess one pair of glasses.
Crap, forgot to add tags! *adds*
Great post,
Sometimes those positive glasses can be much further away from the bed than the negative ones (which always appear to be within easy arms reach!!).
Today has been a very happy day for me too :-)
WOOO HOOOO!!!
Saw your comments on Twitter and had to come see what was making you so happy. Your post was a good reminder for me about the importance of being positive on a daily basis. Thanks, I forwarded on to some not so positive (at the moment) friends
Fantastic post T. Hope you can find the exercise bike easily while wearing the happy glasses!

Happiness is a state of mind that really depends how we see the situations in our lives each day. you can have all the riches in the world but still see it as a lonely place..`;
