My first Mulley :P

Tag: UncategorizedTommy @ 10:48 pm

Well, my last blog post was a reform of my blog, and I think it was received well enough by peoples everywhere. Maybe it’s the knowledge that, thanks to Damien Mulley, I’ve crossed the great line and now know people actually read this…maybe….

In other news…

1) Twitter Mobile Updates are a great help, not only being able to read what people have tweeted, but even just to let you know that someone has twittered. That notification is useful in cases like this: in which you have people twittering quickly on the same subject, and your thigh* vibrates every time there’s a new tweet!

* My phone is never far from my pocket, you see :P

2) I’m turning into Liv, in that I’m leaning away from the usual (no offence Liv) practice of listening to a song, then moving onto a different one, rather picking a song I enjoy, setting the loop going and listening to it 15 times. Last time it was the Fray’s How To Save A Life (which, incidently, I recommend heartily, even after 15 times listened) and we’re now onto Band From TV (get it? :P)’s You Can’t Always Get What You Want.

3) Jamie Cullum’s Get Your Way is my new best drumming song. The beginning and main body is fun, just playing around with the hi hats and bass drum, then the chorus you switch to the crash cymbal and you can have tons of fun, and then there’s this little part at the end of the chorus each time and before it goes back into the song, where you can open the hi hats and have some great staccato fun. The part I refer to first begins around 1:08 in the vid below

Sidenote

Not sure if I saw it being used somewhere, or if my awesome brain thought of it, but the “in other news” section pleases me, as I find it easier to write like that, than in big huge paragraphs.

Summer

Tag: UncategorizedTommy @ 9:48 pm

OK, I’ve been asked to update this due to it smelling funny, according to Pa. Yes, Patrick of all people! Patrick! Mr.-I-haven’t-updated-in-a-month. I wouldn’t want to know what his smelt like after 5 weeks to my one.

Summer is going awesomely. Who’d have actually thought you could fit in this much drumming, MSN, reading, playing with the dogs and listening to music. I don’t think God meant for so much happiness to be taken from a day.

In other news.

1) Damien Mulley is following my blog. apparently. If he is, and he reads this, will you teach me how to find time to update your blog (at the last count) 4 times in one day? Drop a comment or email me, or twitter me, or facebook me. Gosh, I’m so accessible.

2) The dogs are growing at an alarming rate. When we dropped them off at their summer house the night before we went to France, they could quite easily fit in the palm of your hand, now their size, coupled with their weight (6.3 KG apiece) makes picking them up an unwise choice

3) John gets childish pleasure out of making computers say things. A tradition which (IIRC) began in our old house (old by one, not the one in Tipp) when John would play music obnoxiously loud on the iMac, which Patrick, who was busy studying on how to become a millionaire, would find annoying. Not one for the talking (or at least, not in the literal sense of the word), Pa sets his computer to turn the volume of the iMac down fully, after saying “Shut the Duck Up” (only replacing Duck with it’s F partner). Little did Patrick know that this set into motion a chain of events that would culminate in me having to get up at 2 am in the morning to look at John showing off by making the iMac say: “I am the ghost of christmas past” almost 3 years later

4) Another “you-don’t-miss-the-water” moment: You never realise how stupid you are paying 9c for texts until Meteor give you an offer allowing you free meteor to meteor texts, which you celebrate by, since then, sending on average about 50 texts a day. Dad says it’s nothing to be proud of, but I secretly am :)

I’ll try and do a Mulley ( :P) on it, and update my blog a second time before going to bed tonight.

France

You Never Miss The Water Til The Well Goes Dry

- Internet. You never really appreciate having always on internet until you’re separated from it for 3 weeks. The only free wifi (or as the French call it; WeeFee) place was a bar by the square. At least 2 of us used to go down there and use their internet each day, often without buying anything. Toward the end, some of the looks I got worried me that they might be close to barring (no pun intended) us. But I had my (perfectly acceptable IMO) argument that so long as they had free wifi, they were gonna get people like me.

- The English Language. Seriously, not being able to communicate fully with people like waiters, hotel folk really sucks.

Things in France that Have Changed from Last Time

- Wifi. There weren’t many places where you could get it last time, now, there are loads, in my experience however, not many a) don’t have a password b) are in anyway not-slow and c) you can actually connect to

- Is it me, or did big 18 axle trucks race past cyclists at very high speeds and at very close distances all the time?

- The Wind. It was quite windy. Quite being an understatement (Quite the understatement, even :P) Big winds that would send you sprawling into the dust if you didn’t have 100% control.

- Mosquitos have been replaced by midges, the bastards.
