Indy 4

Tag: UncategorizedTommy @ 2:49 pm

ndiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

I’ll try to keep this spoiler free, but will probably fail so…SPOILER WARNING!

We went to see the 10pm showing, me and my two brothers.

Anyways,

Excellent film, up to fifteen minutes before the ending.

Harrison Ford explodes back into the role as if 19 years never happened. Sure, he’s got a few grey hairs, but the “Indy smile” (watch this vid from 1:15 to 1:20) and after that, not much else matters when it comes to him.

Karen is another one that 19 years hasn’t touched. Still looking as good as ever and the chemistry from the first film returns in shinning color.

Shia…I’m in two minds about this guy. The motor cycle chase is awesome but for the rest of it he’s “oh look at me! I’m tough and I quit school! And I comb my hair cos I’m a big girl!”

Mac was just annoying, although I laughed when at the beginning he was like, “you don’t know him, you don’t know him…” when they were about to ram Indy

Blanchett was overall good. Some scenes annoyed me but overall she was good. Not in line with Rosa Klebb as Irish Radio said in their review, but probably my first or second favourite villain.

I decided last night too that, John Williams is the single greatest composer ever.

GOOD POINTS:
Area 51, motorcycle chase, scene in the back of the van, ensuing chase, the music

BAD POINTS:
Waterfall sequence, ending, Mac, some parts of Mutt, some parts of the plot, the lack of surprises

And for fun, POINTS IN BETWEEN The nod to the ark, the Dean, The fact that the box at the start was magnetic, and it was a gag that people’s stuff stuck to it. But why didn’t their guns stick?

Weekend!

Tag: UncategorizedTommy @ 2:48 pm

Yeah, I know, it’s a whole week since I last updated. So sue me. I said that this blog would be updated semi-regularly.

The big thing happening this week was of course the Confirmation

So I shall begin by recounting from Thursday morn;

I woke up at 6:15. Pa came back. I had breakfast and we went to the church. Pa was late and I was crapping myself worrying that he’d be late. Ceremony went grand. Good fun afterwards too. Plenty of food :-)

Woke up at same time again today but went back to bed again. Woke up at 9:30 and got up. Spent the day dossin’ and went swimming too.

Went to see Indy 4 too. I’ll post my review in another post

Doctor Who
S4E7; The Unicorn and The Wasp

OK, here goes, my first Doctor Who episode review.

– *Offers hand* “Agatha Christe”
– “What about her?”
– “Um, that’s me”

BASIC PLOT

The Doctor and Donna travel backwards in time to Britain, 1926. It’s the night that Agatha Christe disappears. It’s a tea party. Meanwhile, a guest of the party is killed and so is the house-keeper. She dies mumbling the words “the child…the poor child…”

A giant wasp appears in front of Donna and she just escapes. After some fun sleuthing with Christe, and an (albeit long drawn out) amusing interrogation sequence, the culprit is revealed and is stopped. There is also some light shed on her disappearance. The story goes that her car was found by a lake, with her no-where to be found

Sunset Boulavard

Just awake. Go me.

Drum lesson yesterday. Good fun. He says I’m coming on great and also recommended Carbon drum sticks to prevent the flaking.

Today is Saturday so you never know, I may go to town yet. It’s my birthday in three weeks. Dunno what it’ll be like being a year older. Will it be much different? Do you remember back when you were my age? Share your comments!

I think I have something to do today, there’s something I’ve forgotten…Oh well, if it was that important I’ll re-remember it…

Thinking of buying an iPhone, no offence Pa, but my current one is kinda falling apart…

Post title refers to the popular musical btw, which I was listening to yesterday.

Monday…jeez, I really have to get more original blog titles…

Tag: UncategorizedTommy @ 4:47 pm

Want to get this typed up before my battery dies so here goes.

Re-adjusting to going back to school was easier then expected. Though, admittedly, this could have been helped by several things. Namely blistering heat, ridiculously bright sunshine and the fact that he did no work apart from some history on the Easter Rising. Watched the start of Michael Collins on youTube. (youtube! Cue John’s “it’s far from YouTube you were reared”. Oh get a life). I fore see a debate on English vs. Irish “do ends justify means?” debate coming on so I’ll brace myself for that, (as I’d suggest everyone in Castletroy to do).

Diplomacy is still not working. I think we may have a solution but my preference would be just to scrap this one and start another one.

As I said earlier, it’s beautifully sunny here. 25 C, which is 77 F if there’s any Americans reading this. We’ve had the patio door open all day but I’m still roasting.

Couple all that with no homework and you’ve got one happy boy 8-)

(P.S. I also have Thursday off to go to a confirmation. Oh yeahh….)

Weird dream

Tag: UncategorizedTommy @ 9:18 am

I don’t usually remember dreams. Heck, I don’t usually have dreams. But this one had to be told…

_________________________________

It started when I was walking along a road; there were trees around so I think it was a wood near where I live. I had a long walk somewhere when this guy in a truck stops beside me and offers me a lift. I’m tired so I accept. He then tells me I’m being kidnapped. “Why?” I ask. “Haha? Isn’t it obvious? You’re dad’s King of Ireland!” (//we have none) so I ride along. We get to this big college and I’m put in a room with about 100 other kids. One of them I know from school. She seems to have given up all hope of escape. But I haven’t.

The middle part is hazy,

I find myself in a restaurant, oddly, my parents are there, but it’s as if they can’t see me, or they just don’t recognise me. My friend is shot in the stomach and I go into a rage*. I basically just kick everyone’s butt and then turn to the restaraunt.

“Don’t mess with me” 8)

Friday

It’s a miracle! My hi-hats sound like the song’s ones! The guy in the shop was such a legend. We went up to the counter just as a guy was leaving and asked for Cian (the guy my teacher had told us to go to. The percussionist of the shop, of sorts). The guy grimaces comically (not seriously, jokingly) and wheels around. “Looks like I should stay for a moment”. We got into the banter about I’m a drummer but the ones that came with it were sh1t, (he whole-heartedly agreed) and I grabbed a pair of sticks and went about the shop hitting different things. Found an awesome snare drum that was absolutely fantastic. A real military drum. I tried a roll and it sounded like either a military 21 gun salute minus 21 guns or an execution. It was beautiful! I thought to myself “next thing to be replaced” as I looked around it for a price tag. I found it. €450. Or not. That’s more then the kit _and_ the new ‘hats *together*.
